We took the train back to Paris yesterday night... Seb left again this morning at 6 to go to the Gers county, where his parents are spending their holidays. Violette and I shall be on our own for a week. Violette hasn't left me for one minute ever since she got off her travelling box yesterday evening. She enjoyed her time at the countryside (and didn't even mind the journey back that much), but it seems she enjoys being "back home" even more.
I'm a little sad to be back in Paris and away from the countryside... I am not a Parisian at heart and miss the sight, smells, sounds, quietness and "thoughtfulness" of the country. I hope this doesn't sound ridiculous - Paris is such a beautiful city, I love it and I certainly won't deny the advantages of living there - but it's just that I am not meant for city life.
Obviously, it doesn't help that I've had three sleepless nights on end.
I really hope to finally get some sleep tonight. Seb says that's because I've been working too much since we came back from holiday on July 15 - but I do enjoy my work! I guess I should probably take a break for a day. Weekends have just been like the other weekdays.
At least I am now back to a full Internet connexion, and I enjoyed starting to catch up on everyone's blogs this morning - I hope to be caught up within a few days. It is good to see all that you friends have been up to.
I managed to put a couple more hours' stitching into the Lavender Rose Case in the train (the effects of a sleepless night, added to boisterous kids in the train, deterred me from taking out my books during the journey).

I'm hoping to stitch some more tonight; then, depending on the other stitchalong ladies' progress, I'll see whether to continue or to hold back a little.
Anne has not started yet as she's been sick and busy (I do hope you're better, Anne!); but Karen and Nadine have both made a wonderful start. This SAL is so pleasant. :)
I wish you all a nice week!

I know what you mean about enjoying the peace of the countryside. If only DH's job wasn't so tied to Washington DC:(
Great progress on your rose case. All those queen stitches make a nice effect in the rose. A bit overwhelming to me though!
Great progress on your sewing case, it's gorgeous
beautiful work. I'm not a city gal, either. I've lived in a small town, a city, the country, the suburbs, and college campus outside a city. I like the burbs. The country is great to get away to, but I like being close to people and shopping. Baltimore is a fine city despite its bad rap. I lived there when the Baltimore Orioles were Baltimore's team. But I didn't like getting desensitized to the sound of ambulance sirens. I left you another comment under yours on my blog. You sweetie.
Lovely SAL!
Violet is an absolute princess on the pic!
Seb's absence might be the best explanation to your "uncomfort"?
Lots of hugs to cheer you up!
Lovely work on your SAL! I hope you manage to get some rest soon for your poor tired eyes. And, I never sleep well alone either!
I hope you get some better sleep tonight. And try to take a rest at the weekends. I know it's hard but you need the break :)
Lavender Rose looks lovely. Your queen stitches are wonderful! :)
Hope you sleep well Isabelle. Like you I love the country, better than the city. Love how Lavender Rose case is looking.
Lovely to see you back "home" Isabelle. Your sal piece is so pretty - a friend and I are hoping to start this ourselves very soon so I'll look forward to watching your progress on this :)
Lovely progress Isabelle! You did a great job with the queen stitches.
I started on the scissor keeper this morning, as I'm still waiting for the Silk Bella to come for the border and I didn't fancy counting across to start the back panel in case I make a mistake! Hope it comes soon, otherwise I'll have to risk the counting ;)
Hope you can get some good sleep this week and I agree with Nicki, try to take a break at the weekends if you can {{{hugs}}}
Sorry to hear you aren't sleeping well, hope you get rested up soon. Your stitching looks great, love those colors.
You are lucky that Violette likes to travel, my cat despises it and so she stays home even when we travel.
Take a break, get some rest! :D ((hugs))
Lavender Rose Case is looking lovely Zabelle.. *hugs* take some time off if you can :)
I'm with you, girl! I love the country. We visited my grandmother this weekend; she lives up on a small mountain and it's lovely up there. So refreshing! I'm glad you had a good time, but I hope that you get some sleep, dear girl! *hug*
You are off to a great start Isabelle. The rose is beautiful!
I hope you are able to catch up on your sleep. Sweet dreams!
Your Lavender Rose Case is so elegant :-) Perhaps you will have to move out of Paris someday... :-) It is a busy city, that is for sure! We had a hard time sleeping there too, took several days to adjust - even busier than NYC!
Your SAL is beautiful - i looked at karen's progress & will have to check out Nadine's blog next
I know what you mean about the countryside -- we are out a bit & enjoy it very much. The commute to work for DH can be a hassle.
When I want 'city' i hop the train into Chicago. Seems, the older I get, the less frequent the urge to go into the city!!
Looks great! Enjoy your progress. Ann.
Welcome back! I know how you feel about the city. I like being close enough to the city to visit easily, but living there would be another story entirely.
Lavender Rose is coming along very nicely!
Isn't lavender the most special color? Shades of red are my favorite but there is something so soothing about lavender. I always admire your stitching! Glad that you are back to blogging and back home, though I can identify with country living. Its so peaceful. We are sort of in the country where we are. Surrounded by pastures but our road is fairly busy even though our home sits back in a good bit. Praying for you that the Lord will give you sleepy nights ....soon. Home is so very special, isn't it! I'm loving being back at home after our trip south last week. I just wish I had a maid...=). (no, I'm not kidding, really, but I must be her & me...=)). Its hard to express a sense of humor in writing I think...and I have a rich vein of it running through me. Sometimes it crops up at the wrong times though...hope you are having a great day in your cozy home. I told my hubby this morning, if he passes on before me, I think I will have a kitty cat to companion me. He asked me how I will keep her from walking on the kitchen table...right now, cat means purring to me. Mum always had a beauty purring round her feet and on her lap. Of course, she had cat hairs sprinkled amongst the kitchen things to but never minded. Oh happy day, to never mind things.
Paris *France* or Paris *Texas*... ok ok, it's probably France. Just found your blog and look forward to reading it.
This project is looking lovely so far, Isabelle! I can imagine Paris being busy if you're not a city girl at heart. I'm like you: never lived in a city until three years ago. I wouldn't want to leave now, though. But I suppose Maastricht is a tiny bit smaller than Paris...
What pretty stitching! I'm so glad you're back and you had a safe holiday.
Welcome home! Lavender Rose is looking gorgeous!
